Wilkes County Health Department offers screening for sexually transmitted diseases during regular office hours. If you would like to be screened or are having symptoms, an appointment can be scheduled by calling (336) 651-7450.
What are Sexually Transmitted Diseases (STDs)?
A sexually transmitted disease (STD), also known as sexually transmitted infection (STI) or venereal disease (VD), is a disease passed from person to person through sexual contact.
What are the goals of the STD Clinic?
To identify, treat, and prevent the spread of sexually transmitted diseases.
Are services confidential and what is the cost?
Yes, all services are confidential regardless of age.
All local health departments will offer HIV and STD services at no cost to the client regardless of county of residence. Exceptions include: clients who request screening for certain non-reportable STDs; clients who receive follow-up treatment of warts after the diagnosis is established; and clients who request testing not offered by the state.
